- “The Smell of Gunpowder” is a haunting anti-war song that paints a grim picture of a world consumed by violence and destruction. Written in Bengali and interspersed with English rap, the song speaks to the emotional and physical devastation of war—from the suffocating smoke and the acrid smell of burning gunpowder to the shattered lives of innocent civilians. The lyrics question the morality of war and highlight its absurd contradictions: those who incite it rarely fight, and those forced to fight never desire it. Religion, nationalism, and power are critiqued as tools that divide and destroy humanity. With vivid imagery of toxic air, blood-filled rivers, and broken homes, the song is a cry for peace in a world blinded by hatred and ideology. It ends with a chilling reminder that in war, survival is painful, and what remains is only death and suffering. by @jack_60gto1, 2 votes
