“The Secret of Life in −60°C Cold?”
“The Secret of Life in −60°C Cold?” In the frozen heart of the South Pole, where temperatures fall to -60 °C, standing alone for even a few moments is an open invitation to certain death. There is no fire, no shelter, and no possibility of human help. In such a merciless environment, survival itself seems nothing short of a miracle—and in the penguin world, this miracle takes the form of the collective embrace known as the “huddle.” Thousands of penguins press tightly against one another, forming what looks like living walls. Wing touching wing, body against body, they create a natural fortress that traps heat. Outside, icy storms scream and brutal winds cut through flesh, yet inside this circle, the temperature astonishingly rises to nearly 35 degrees Celsius. This is not mere physical closeness—it is a complete system of survival. The true wonder of this scene is not just warmth, but order. Penguins do not gather in a chaotic crowd; instead, they remain in a silent, continuous rotation. The penguin standing at the edge, facing the freezing winds, slowly moves inward, while the one warmed at the center naturally shifts outward to bear the cold. In this way, each penguin takes turns making sacrifices, and none remains permanently exposed to danger. Through this organized movement, they conserve nearly 50 percent of their bodily energy. This scene teaches us a deep lesson. Survival does not always belong to the strongest. It belongs to those who value unity, cooperation, and discipline. Here, a simple question arises: Who taught these small and seemingly weak penguins such an organized way of life? Who gave them the sense to know when to protect others and when to step back? Who placed kindness, balance, and these unwritten rules inside them? Who is the One behind all this? The Creator of the penguin is Allah, the Creator of the entire universe. In the Holy Qur’an, Allah says: “Our Allah is the One who gave everything its form and then guided it.” (Surah Ta-Ha 20:50) This shows that Allah placed clear signs in His creation so that people may see, think, and understand. His signs are everywhere for those who reflect. But some people still deny the truth. About them, Allah says in the Qur’an: “Allah has sealed their hearts, and their hearing and their eyes are covered. For them is a great punishment.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:7)
