Love Your Enemies, Even When It Hurts | Luke 6:27–28

How do you respond when someone hurts you, betrays you, or treats you unfairly? Jesus gave us an answer that is difficult—but incredibly powerful. ❤️🙏 📖 Luke 6:27–28 says: “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” In Luke 6:27–38, Jesus teaches His followers to respond to hatred with love, mistreatment with prayer, and wrongdoing with mercy. He calls us to treat others with the same kind of grace and mercy we desire from God. This doesn’t mean pretending that the hurt never happened or allowing someone to continue harming you. Forgiveness does not require you to remove healthy boundaries or put yourself back into an unsafe situation. Instead, Jesus teaches us not to allow someone else’s actions to control the condition of our hearts. When you’ve been hurt, revenge may feel natural. Bitterness may feel justified. But choosing mercy can free your heart from carrying the weight of anger. You can forgive without forgetting. You can love without trusting someone who has hurt you. And you can release revenge while trusting God with justice. Sometimes the strongest response is not retaliation—it is choosing to remain faithful to the character of Christ. 💬 Comment “I CHOOSE FORGIVENESS” if you’re asking God to help you release bitterness and walk in His love. 🙏❤️ 👍 Like, share, and subscribe for more daily Bible verses, Christian encouragement, prayers, forgiveness messages, and faith-filled content.
