Risk and Return
⚖️ HOW ARE RISK AND RETURN CONNECTED? When it comes to investing, you've probably heard: “Higher risk = higher return.” But it's not that simple. 👇 📈 WHAT IS RETURN? Return is the gain or loss you make on an investment over a period of time. For example: You invest ₹10,000. It becomes ₹11,000. Your gain is ₹1,000. ⚠️ WHAT IS RISK? Risk is the possibility that your actual return could be different from what you expect—including losing some or all of your investment. 🔄 THE CONNECTION Investments with greater uncertainty may offer the potential for higher returns, but they can also experience larger losses. Lower-risk investments generally have less potential for large returns, but that doesn't mean they are risk-free. 🧠 EXAMPLE 🏦 Lower-risk investment: Usually smaller price movements and lower potential returns. 📊 Higher-risk investment: Potential for larger gains and larger losses. 🚀 Very high-risk investment: Could produce dramatic gains—or dramatic losses. ⚠️ BIGGEST MISTAKE Higher risk does NOT guarantee higher returns. Taking more risk doesn't mean you'll automatically make more money. You could simply lose more. 💡 THE BIG IDEA Before investing, ask: 🎯 What is my goal? ⏳ How long will I invest? ⚖️ How much loss can I handle? 📊 Do I understand the investment? Don't chase returns without understanding the risk. 💬 Would you choose an investment with higher potential returns if it also had higher risk? #RiskAndReturn #Investing #PersonalFinance #MoneyTips #FinancialEducation
