Surah Al-Baqarah – Verse 41 (Description / Explanation): Arabic: وَآمِنُوا۟ بِمَآ أَنزَلْتُ مُصَدِّقًۭا لِّمَا مَعَكُمْ وَلَا تَكُونُوٓا۟ أَوَّلَ كَافِرٍۢ بِهِۦ وَلَا تَشْتَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِى ثَمَنًۭا قَلِيلًۭا وَإِيَّـٰىَ فَٱتَّقُونِ Transliteration: Wa āminū bimā anzaltu muṣaddiqan limā ma‘akum wa lā takūnū awwala kāfirin bih, wa lā tashtarū bi āyātī thamanan qalīlā, wa iyyāya fattaqūn. Translation (Saheeh International): “And believe in what I have sent down confirming that which is with you, and do not be the first to disbelieve in it, and do not exchange My verses for a small price, and fear [only] Me.” --- Explanation: In this verse, Allah addresses the Children of Israel (Bani Israel), urging them to believe in the Qur’an — the final revelation — because it confirms the truth of their own scriptures (the Torah). “Believe in what I have sent down” — Allah invites them to accept the Qur’an as a continuation and confirmation of the divine message they already possess. “Do not be the first to disbelieve in it” — They were scholars of revelation and should have been the first to recognize Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as foretold in their own books, not the first to reject him. “Do not exchange My verses for a small price” — This warns them not to hide or distort Allah’s words for worldly gain, status, or power. “And fear only Me” — True fear should be of Allah alone, not of losing people’s approval or worldly benefits. --- Lesson: This verse reminds us to: 1. Accept truth when it comes — even if it challenges tradition or pride. 2. Never trade faith for worldly benefit — no gain is worth losing Allah’s guidance. 3. Fear Allah alone — sincerity in faith requires independence from worldly fear.
