AI video can earn money in 2026, but the rules changed a lot this year. X replaced its revenue sharing with a new program, Snapchat stopped recommending wholly AI-made videos, and YouTube announced higher bars for 2027. This guide covers how to make money from AI videos on every platform that pays for them, what each one asks, and what gets AI creators demonetized, with every rule linked to its source and checked on 2 November 2026.
Key takeaways
No major platform bans AI video from earning. What they refuse to pay for is mass-produced, templated or unoriginal content.
Label realistic AI. YouTube, TikTok and Facebook all require it, and YouTube says the label alone doesn't cost you money.
AI film platforms pay the biggest share of each sale (70–80%), but have far smaller audiences than YouTube or TikTok.
Start earning before you have an audience with contests and with AITube's Prompt Battles, licences and affiliate commissions.

YouTube
YouTube pays AI creators through the YouTube Partner Program. To earn ad revenue you need 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 watch hours on long-form videos in the last 12 months or 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days. Creators keep 55% of watch-page ad revenue on long-form videos and 45% of their share of the Shorts pool.
AI isn't banned. YouTube's monetization policies refuse "inauthentic" content: generic or repetitive videos, AI clips stitched together to shock, and AI personas giving health, legal, financial or political advice. A fully AI-made video can earn if it shows your own creative vision, such as a character and story you invented. Realistic AI must be disclosed with the "AI use" setting, and YouTube says the label alone won't affect your earnings.
From February 1, 2027, new applicants will need 8,000 watch hours in 365 days or 20 million Shorts views in 90 days, and every channel will need 10 million Shorts views in 90 days to earn from the Shorts pool. That makes Shorts money hard for small AI channels. Our guide Does YouTube pay for AI-generated video? covers the YouTube rules in detail.
TikTok
TikTok's US Creator Rewards terms, updated July 20, 2026, don't mention AI at all. You need to be 18 or older, with at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 views in the last 30 days, and only videos of at least one minute earn. Payouts start at $50 and are sent monthly. Personal accounts only.
TikTok's Community Guidelines require a label on AI-generated content showing realistic-looking scenes or people, and unoriginal or reused material isn't eligible for the For You feed. The one-minute minimum is the real hurdle for AI creators used to short clips.
Facebook and Instagram
Facebook Content Monetization, which pays for Reels, longer videos, photos and text posts, is still invite-only; you can ask to join through an interest form in the Professional Dashboard. Facebook says it paid creators nearly $3 billion in 2025. Its Creator Fast Track pays creators with 100,000 or more followers on another platform $1,000 a month for three months ($3,000 at a million followers) for posting Reels.
Facebook deprioritizes and can demonetize accounts that mostly post unoriginal content, and it requires a label on photorealistic video that was digitally created or altered. Instagram's creator programs, such as gifts, subscriptions and bonuses, are mostly invite-only or need a professional account; check your dashboard for what's open to you.
X (Twitter)
X ended its Creator Revenue Sharing after September 7, 2026 and replaced it with Original Content Rewards, Engadget reported. To qualify you need a Premium subscription, at least 500 verified followers and 500,000 Home-timeline impressions from verified users in the last 90 days, and you must regularly post original content. Reposts only count with meaningful commentary or editing.
AI isn't banned, but in March 2026 X said that posting undisclosed AI videos of armed conflict would cost creators 90 days of payouts.
Snapchat
Snapchat is the least friendly to fully AI video. Its monetization program is invite-only and needs a verified Snap Star account, 50,000 followers and 15,000 hours of view time in 28 days, with a $100 minimum payout. Since July 2026, wholly AI-generated videos made outside Snapchat are no longer recommended on Spotlight, under its recommendation guidelines. Its creator monetization policy still pays for content made with AI tools if it's original and the AI use is disclosed.
AI film platforms that share sales
A new group of streaming sites is built for AI films and series, and they pay the biggest share of each sale. Their audiences are much smaller than YouTube's, so treat them as an extra income stream rather than your main one.
Generated Worlds: 80% of net episode revenue, no follower or watch-hour threshold, Stripe payouts once you pass $25.
AICINEO: 80% of ad and rental revenue after 1,000 followers, 24,000 qualified minutes and 5 approved uploads; $50 minimum.
Oyra: 80% of every purchase, for films of at least 10 minutes; $50 minimum through Stripe.
DeepStories: 70% of every sale of paid episodes.
VIYU: 80% of ticket revenue, paid manually to PayPal or a bank account. Its catalog looked small when we checked.

Cash contests and festivals
Contests are the fastest way to earn without an audience, and the prizes are large. Most require a specific tool or format, so read the rules first.
1 Billion Followers AI Film Award: a $1,000,000 grand prize for a 5–7 minute film, at least 70% made with Seedance; open until November 20, 2026.
Chroma Awards Season 2: open from October 19, 2026 to January 7, 2027, with division prizes such as $38,000 for film and TV and $24,000 for music videos.
Runway AI Festival: $50,000 for the 2026 Grand Prix and $135,000+ in total; 2027 dates haven't been announced.
Higgsfield Global Film Festival: a $1,000,000 cash pool in 2026 for films made entirely on Higgsfield; closed September 15.

Stock footage
Adobe Stock accepts AI-generated content if you label it; you still need releases for any identifiable people or property, and AI content can't be titled as a real news event. Shutterstock doesn't accept AI-generated content from contributors, and Pond5 and Getty Images have also said they don't.
AITube: earn from your first AI video (our platform)
AITube is a video and music platform built only for AI-made work, so its rules are written for AI creators rather than adapted for them. Three ways to earn start from your first video, with no follower count:
Prompt Battle prizes: themed contests with cash or AITube credit prizes listed up front, most free to enter. Cash goes to your AITube wallet and can be withdrawn from $10.
Creative Reuse licences: switch it on when you publish and other creators can license your clip; you earn up to 70% of each sale.
Affiliate commissions: 15% of the subscription payments people you refer make in their first six months.
A fourth, a 55% share of the ad revenue on your videos' watch pages, opens once your channel has 150 followers, 300 views in 60 days, 2 public videos and a verified identity. Ad earnings are paid by Stripe from $50. See how creators earn on AITube and our complete guide to making money on AITube.
What gets AI videos demonetized?
The rules differ, but every platform that pays refuses the same things:
Mass-produced or templated videos that look and feel interchangeable.
Reused content from other creators without real commentary or editing.
Unlabeled realistic AI, especially of real people or real events.
AI personas giving expert advice on health, legal, financial or political topics (YouTube).
Fake engagement, such as bought views or bot traffic.
Which one should you start with?
No audience yet? Enter contests and Prompt Battles, and switch on licences on AITube.
Making longer AI films? Sell them on AI film platforms and enter festivals.
Building a channel? Post on YouTube and TikTok, label realistic AI and keep every video original.
Making short, realistic clips? Try Adobe Stock.
Frequently asked questions
Rules and prizes were checked on 2 November 2026 against each platform's own pages, or reputable reporting where those pages weren't public, and they change often. To start earning from your first video, see AITube's ways to earn.
